Examples of Annotation:

COMM 101C - Intro Comm Studies
This was my first online class at SJSU. In this class the focus and main content was communication theories. I enjoyed learning about the past, present and possible future direction of communication theories. It is especially memorable to me because it is the class where I experienced my “A-ha!” moment. It confirmed that I had finally found the right major. Although the class was challenging, especially the tough exams, it was wonderful to confirm that I had found my place.

COMM 115P - Comm and Conflict
I was looking forward to taking this class to learn more about conflict and managing it through effective communication techniques. It was a bumpy first half, our professor was on leave and we had a substitute. The second half was jam packed with useful facilitation and mediation techniques. Role playing in class with other students was an essential experience in this course.

COMM 133F - Ethical Prob Comm
After Communication, the next topic that I’m very interested in is Philosophy, especially ethics. Taking an online class about both - well - what could be better? The questions we were asked to ponder really pushed me to think more deeply, and question ideas we take for granted. Reading and responding to classmates posts really enhanced this process. One of the texts was phenomenal. (A Very Bad Wizard by Tamler Sommers) I found myself reading chapters that were not assigned!
